Success by the numbers

The PhD Project was founded in 1994 with the goal of diversifying the corporate America by diversifying the role models in the front of classrooms. In the nearly 30 years since, we’ve have made tremendous strides toward that goal:

  • More than quintupled the number of historically underrepresented business professors in the U.S., from 294 in 1994 to over 1,500 today.
  • Approximately 300 diverse doctoral students currently receiving our help to pursue their academic careers.
  • Over 1,400 diverse business professors participating in The PhD Project have earned doctoral degrees.
  • An immeasurable number of students have benefited from the teaching, mentoring and guiding of these professors.

Our Mission

To increase workplace diversity by increasing the diversity of business school faculty who encourage, mentor, support and enhance the preparation of tomorrow’s leaders.

Our Vision

A significantly larger talent pipeline of Black/African Americans, Latinx/Hispanic Americans and Native Americans for business leadership positions.

Our Program

Leverage our expansive network of partners, professionals, and universities so they can continue to help diverse individuals earn their PhDs so they can teach and inspire the next generation of business leaders.
